Located in an industrial port in Vlaardingen, is a former warehouse dating from the last century. The property has an area of approximately 200m2 (about 36 meters long and 12 meters wide). Firm was responsible for the transformation and restoration of the property into a unique apartment and office space.
The building originally served as an old fishing building with a large attic for drying nets. With the addition of a new core and a central stairwell, the property is now divided into 1/3 (front) – 2/3 (rear). An apartment has been created on the northeast side of the property overlooking the water.
Despite a fire the building endured, the façade and wood support structure were preserved. New floors, ceilings and custom cabinets match the language of the original building. The apartment has a light and natural feel. Natural and light materials were chosen in the design. Special touches include old Bakelite light switches and raw materials such as concrete stucco. Details of copper and leather give the apartment a raw look.
