The project

In the center of Rotterdam is the office for Invitado Visitor Management. Since 2006, Invitado has facilitated visitor registration for events, both online and on location. With a clear vision of innovation and efficiency, Invitado chose to redesign their office space. The big challenge? A transformation of the dated office with a budget of only €125 per m2. Firm rose to the challenge.

Space

With an area of 450 m2, the office building is an example of Dutch modern architecture from the early 20th century, with clear influences of the Dudok style. The building’s design is characterized by the use of brick, steel window frames and a striking facade made almost entirely of glass.

The design

Invitado’s office design was inspired by the abstract depiction of a Mexican village, grafted onto the style of Luis Barragán – a famous Mexican architect known for his colorful and modernist works. The challenge lay in improving acoustics and air quality within a tight budget. Firm designed three volumes with double ceilings equipped with airlocks for fresh air supply and various custom elements. The structural core received a pantry conversion of red MDF, the vibrant heart of the office.
