The project
‘The Gallery Salon Studios’ is a new concept which rents out flexible studios for independent hair stylists and beauty professionals. There are multiple locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
Each location has its own distinctive architecture. The properties range from modern new construction with 5-meter-high ceilings to historic downtown properties.
The design
To maintain cohesion between the different locations, a unified design was chosen. Common areas that are colorful and pronounced while the studios feature a quiet base. This allows each ZZP’er to put his or her own spin on the space. Routing is important for visitors. By playing with glass and colors inside and outside the corridor areas, a subtle and intuitive guide for visitors was created. Lighting provides direction through light lines that flow fluidly through the building and transform into statement lights in the community zones.
